The sculptural composition plays with contrasts of light and shadow, as layered, circular shades orchestrate a rhythmic dance of exposure, casting an intimate, atmospheric glow.
At the foundation of this poetic interplay stands a raw, oxidized aluminium base square, grounded, and industrial its solid presence harmonizing with the richly textured, almost concrete-like surface of the rounded shades. Our lamps finished in oxidized aluminium are crafted to highlight the natural depth and variation of the surface, giving each piece a unique and timeless character. To preserve their beauty, careful and minimal maintenance is essential.
The oxidized surface should be cleaned only with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. Do not use water, as moisture may react with the oxidized finish and alter its appearance. Avoid abrasive pads, harsh detergents, solvents, or metal polishes since these can strip away or damage the oxidized layer.
Because the oxidized effect is a living finish, subtle changes in tone and texture may occur naturally over time. This patina is part of the material’s character and should be embraced as a sign of its authenticity.
Always switch off and unplug the lamp before cleaning and avoid placing it in areas with high humidity or direct water exposure. With simple, gentle care, the oxidized aluminium will retain its refined depth and natural patina, ensuring the lamp remains expressive and enduring for years to come.
Metal
Inspired by architecture, the metal finishes of 101 Copenhagen are characterized by treated and rich surfaces, emphasizing the unique potential and qualities of each metal. The finishes of brass, bronze and burned black are all plated one or two times to create a layered metal finish with a subtle warmth. Subsequent to the plating, all metal colours are hand brushed to achieve a beautiful patinated look. Finally, the colour is spray painted with a mat transparent paint, adding a silky mat finish to the metal.
The products of cast aluminium have small marks and variations from the casting process, therefore small holes and unevenness might occur. Products made of cast aluminium is not recommended for outdoor use. Standing outside will cause the product to rust. Resembling architectural concrete facades, the Oxidized aluminium colour is made from a special acid treatment. The metal is dipped in acid for a very short time, creating a raw mat grey surface and leaving large sporadic marks.
Maintenance:
For daily cleaning it is recommended to use a microfiber cloth to remove dust or dirt from the surface. Please do not use cleaning agents that contain acid.
