101 Copenhagen Foku Chair in White Boucle pillar, and Sphere vase

ABOUT 101 COPENHAGEN

REDEFINED DETAILS AND MONUMENTAL SHAPES ROOTED IN THE SCANDINAVIAN SOIL AND NOURISHED BY JAPANESE MINIMALIST AESTHETICS

101 Copenhagen is a Danish design brand exquisite quality and craftsmanship. The collection encompasses furniture, lighting, and accessories in a timeless yet modern design.

With a true passion for materials and refined textures, organic shapes, and colors, 101 Copenhagen presents the epitome of classics and must-have novelties for Scandinavian and international interior connoisseurs alike.

The design of 101 Copenhagen is firmly rooted in Scandinavian traditions and enriched by Japanese minimalist aesthetics.

Sharing an emphasis on quality materials, techniques, and traditions, the meeting between North and East is evident in the holistic collections of 101 Copenhagen.

The design approach is dynamic and characterized by freedom of expression, creating unique and timeless pieces without compromising on playfulness and individuality. An attention to detail and a shared sense of aesthetics drive the brand’s two main designers, Tommy Hyldahl and Kristian Sofus Hansen.

Merging their backgrounds and experiences—from the fashion industry, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and travels in Japan—a narrative of minimalist, sculptural, and conceptual design runs throughout the collections.

Translating and transforming simplistic inspiration from Japan into a Scandinavian context honors quality, heritage, and materiality while never compromising on form and function. 101 Copenhagen is a curated selection of tactile, bold objects that stand out individually while forming a cohesive whole.

OUR MAIN DESIGNERS

Tommy Hyldahl, owner and designer - With a background in fashion, having spent years forecasting and analyzing future trends, Tommy Hyldahl has a natural attention to detail in materials, historical references, and original design concepts. Similar to the process in fashion, the design at 101 Copenhagen begins with an idea that evolves into a full layered narrative for each collection.

Kristian Sofus Hansen, designer - With a background from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and time spent living and studying in Japan, Kristian Sofus Hansen brings aesthetics and simplicity to the Danish design heritage and translates these details into the 101 Copenhagen collection. Mainly designing sculptures and objects, it is a never-ending source of inspiration for Hansen, whose aim is to create characteristic and functional designs to remember.

101 COPENHAGEN CRAFTMANSHIP

At the heart of every piece we create lies not just a natural material but a story of artistry, dedication, and unparalleled craftsmanship. This is not mass production; this is artistry at its finest. Learn about the artisan process of our designs.

A JOURNEY OF DEDICATION, SKILL, AND ARTISTRY

Ceramic Craftmanship

Creating our ceramic pieces is a journey of dedication, skill, and artistry.

Our pieces are so much more than mere vessels for decoration - they are vibrant expressions of human artistry, each one carrying the impressions of the hands that created it. From the first touch of raw clay to the final stroke of paint, every vase is a celebration of craftsmanship, dedication, and artistry.

These aren’t just objects; they’re stories told through form, texture, and color.

WHERE CRAFTSMANSHIP MEETS PASSION

Glass Making Art

At the heart of every piece we create lies not just glass, but a story of artistry, dedication, and unparalleled craftsmanship.

Imagine each table as more than an object - it’s a masterpiece shaped by the skilled hands of artisans whose passion infuses every step of the process. From the moment we craft the custom-made mold, the journey begins. With precision and care, we transform raw materials into extraordinary pieces of art, heated to perfection, molded to form, and meticulously refined with every breath. The glass is sculpted, its surface perfected, its integrity solidified - all with an unwavering commitment to excellence. This is not mass production; this is artistry at its finest. Each step of our process is a reflection of our artisans’ devotion, from the delicate shaping and careful blowing of molten glass to the vibrant painting and final assembly.

Every piece tells a story of craftsmanship, a testament to the beauty born from fire, skill, and creativity.

CRAFTSMANSHIP IN EVERY TOUCH

Handmade Wooden Furniture

At the heart of our workshop, every single piece of furniture embarks on a journey - one that begins with raw wood and ends as a masterpiece, shaped entirely by human hands. Unlike mass-produced furniture, where machines churn out identical replicas, our handcrafted pieces embrace the authenticity of craftsmanship, where every curve, every joint, and every surface are infused with skill, patience, and artistry.

Our handcrafted manufacturing process is more than just production; it is a meticulously crafted journey that lends each piece its own unique personality. Every grain of wood tells a story, and through the careful hands of our artisans, that story is honoured, refined, and transformed into furniture that stands apart. This is not just a chair or a table - it is a piece of art, touched and perfected by skilled craftsmen at every stage.
