- Description
Born from the Japanese word for movement, the Ni Vase, Mini is more than a vessel; it is a story of motion captured in stillness. Each piece begins as clay shaped by hand, transformed into a form that feels alive, as though caught mid-stride. The silhouette is fluid and organic, reminiscent of wind sweeping across water or the graceful arc of a dancer in motion.
Resting on two sculptural legs that converge in a delicate meeting point, the form carries an almost human presence, poised, upright, and full of quiet energy. As you turn it, the shape seems to shift before your eyes, revealing new curves and tensions with each angle, as though the piece itself were subtly moving.
The Carved Dark Green finish adds a tactile expression to the organic form, with fine grooves flowing across the surface in gentle, rhythmic patterns inspired by the meditative traces of raked sand and stone. Its deep green hue is reminiscent of moss-covered landscapes, shaded forest canopies, and weathered mineral surfaces, revealing subtle tonal variations as light moves across the textured form. Rich and grounding, the colour balances earthy depth with refined elegance, creating a sense of natural harmony and quiet presence.
Crafted from ceramic and finished by hand, the vase combines the permanence of fired clay with the soulful presence of the human hand. Subtle variations in tone, texture, and detail ensure that each piece is unique, while the carved surface adds depth and tactile character to the sculptural form.
The narrow opening above invites quiet simplicity: a single branch, a few fragile stems, or nothing at all, allowing the work to stand as an expressive artwork in its own right. Its compact proportions make the Ni Vase, Mini a natural presence on a shelf, side table, console, or smaller pedestal, where its sculptural silhouette can be appreciated up close.
The Ni Collection does not simply hold; it converses. It is both presence and pause, a reminder that beauty often lives in the spaces between movement and stillness.
